About doctoral studies
In Romania, according to the Law of Education
(no.1/ 2011 and no.84/1995), doctoral studies are the highest
form of education and research. The above-mentioned law stipulates
that Romanian educational authorities must certify all institutions
organizing doctoral studies and all doctoral advisors. Doctoral
studies are further regulated by a decision of the Romanian
government (no.681/2011) - Full time studies, with a length
of 3 years, out of which 1 year for exams and reports and
2 years for thesis preparations.
Candidates complete their degrees under the supervision of
specialists in the respective fields of research, certified
as doctoral advisor by the Romanian Ministry of Education
and Scientific Research. The research topic and the aims of
the project available for supervision are matched with the
candidate's own preferences and background.
