The scientific activity of the Faculty of Mechanical and Materials Engineering is conducting its own plan based on research it has in several important directions:

- Development of new materials and improved features;
- Environmental impact studies of the activity of economic entities in the county;
- Reduce energy consumption and optimize plant operation and industrial equipment;
- Achievement of mesoporous nanocomposite materials for water remediation;
- Construction of devices, sensors and devices for automation installations;
- New systems of measurement and control based optoelectronic devices, acoustic and electromagnetic;
- Integrated services digital networks and intelligent systems for managing industrial processes.


Students are involved in numerous research topics of which over 50% were capitalized in the works license, the rest being planned on the same line in the next academic years. Faculty develop contracts / contacts collaboration with higher education institutions in the country ("Politehnica" University of Bucharest, Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, "Transilvania" University of Brasov, University "Constantin Brancoveanu" from Pitesti) and from European Union ( National Institute of Applied Sciences - Rouen , Polytechnic University of Turin , University of Valladolid , University of Bourgogne - Dijon, University of Minho - Braga etc.). Teachers and students attended different specialization exchange programs and international mobility prestigious European universities mentioned above, within Erasmus Mobilities . Teaching staff from Faculty Materials Engineering of Mechanical, teach or have taught at some of the universities mentioned above.
